ch(ar)-lotte

pronounced SHAR-let and is of French origin, meaning petite, feminine, and free. Used in England since the 17th century, and made popular by Queen Charlotte. A more perfect name for her does not exist.

I love the work of Charlotte Bronte and E.B. White’s spider. I love Paula Deen’s recipe that uses ladyfingers and whipped cream. I love Mrs. Garrett.

I fell in love with the name and I keep falling in love with the girl.

My Charlotte. December 2010
