On the way to school her sequined purse caught the sun and stars magically appeared all over the car. With enchantment filling her indigo eyes she questioned, “Should we have a dance party?”
Swiftly she swayed her attention to counting buses and forecasting how many we could see on our 5-mile commute. As we passed the fire station she decided that tomorrow we will count fire engines or maybe just red cars.
We walk a fine line these days, a line that divides “look how independent she is!” and “this mother obviously does not take care of her children.” Most mornings I choose to let her choose.
This was a most morning...
